Hello all – my name is Emily Madden, but you can call me Ly, and this week I’m beginning with Headwaters as their UK CARES Community Program Coordinator VISTA.
I have worked in conservation and community engagement through AmeriCorps in Northern Idaho and Perry County, Kentucky respectively. Outside of my new role as the Community Program Coordinator VISTA, I work with the Appalachian Artisan Center on their Culture of Recovery project collecting oral histories and photographing classes, and work with Community Farm Alliance as a Community Ambassador in Perry County, interviewing folks and writing on local foodways. I’m excited to tap into my previous work in conservation to build up community agency around water quality in Southeast Kentucky, and continue Headwaters’ work in education and watershed planning.
If you’d like to connect with me on any questions, ideas, or comments, I can be reached at emily@kyheadwaters.org.
