WWF Southeast Rivers and Streams Grant

Posted by Evan Smith, OSM/VISTA
Good news, The Head of Three Rivers Project received a grant from the World Wildlife Fund’s Southeast Rivers & Streams Fund to do some work looking at the sewage problems on the Poor Fork (Cumberland River). The goal is to look at the e. coli levels of each tributary to make it possible to do a need-based plan for serving the area with on-site sewage systems.

Major partners with this grant are Mennonite Central Committee – Appalachia & Eolia Christian Community Outreach.

This is part of an effort called Shall We Gather At The River to connect churches in Letcher County with the streams that flow near their doors.

Can’t wait to get started!
