Headwaters, Inc. has received a $3000 Grassroots Community Mining Mini-Grant from the Western Mining Action Network and the Indigenous Environmental Network. The funds will be put towards:
- funding the next VISTA position;
- developing a set of informational brochures that 1) explain individual heavy metals and the health issues associated with them, and 2) highlight Headwaters’ upcoming work within the community, which includes an environmental day on Earth Day 2013 that will feature rain garden construction and other activities; and
- assessing/surveying the Kentucky River’s North Fork for sites that will be both environmentally and economically acceptable for boat/fishing ramp installation.
