Headwaters is presenting a watershed camp at Cowan Community Center this summer. The Headwaters on the Creek Camp will be held July 23rd through 27th from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM each day for Letcher County youth ages 5 to 12. This camp will focus on water and nature. Campers will learn about fish, stream critters, wildlife, and the creeks in their own backyards. Campers will gain knowledge through hands on experience in the creek, looking through microscopes, participating in interactive games, and learning about the fun and exciting world of water. Our hope is that our campers will leave this experience with respect for nature and a better understanding of our local waterways.
While Headwaters staff will be leading camp, we will also have guest instructors and field trips to the Pine Mountain Settlement School and public pool.
We are excited about this wonderful partnership with Cowan Community Center. Please look into the other camps being held throughout the summer including: Art on the Creek, Kids on the Creek, and Farm on the Creek. ***Headwaters on the Creek and other camps at Cowan Community Center are FREE for Letcher County youth and breakfast and lunch will be provided each day.
