Hello, Letcher County! My name is Caitlin Myers and this week I’m stepping in as the new Watershed Coordinator!
I have worked towards clean water in Appalachia since 2014, when I stepped in to aid disaster relief efforts in West Virginia during a chemical spill that affected 300,000 people. During my time delivering clean water door-to-door, visiting and working with folks in Boone County, I understood on a basic level that every person needs clean water to drink, keep clean, play, and eat. Since then, I’ve worked on Tennessee water testing efforts, in addition to addressing other issues such as rural broadband access and youth arts education.
I am so excited to work with Letcher Countians towards a bright future of healthy watersheds and clean streams. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with questions, comments, or concerns, or just to talk about the work and see how you can get involved. You can reach me at caitlin@kyheadwaters.org.
