Water Testing at Jenkins Middle High School

The Headwaters Inc. team headed out to Jenkins Middle-High School from the 25th of May to the 1st of June, to run chemical water testing labs and to inform the students of J.M.H.S. about the importance of water quality in our lives.  Covering a number of different pollution sources and issues relating to water quality, the students of Jenkins Middle-High School investigated a number of sites surrounding the school, conducting various tests including pH tests, conductivity tests and dissolved oxygen tests.  Discussions revolved around the effects of poor water quality, as well as the importance of Letcher County as the headwaters for three major rivers (the Big Sandy River, the Kentucky River and the Upper Cumberland River).  Thank you to the staff at J.M.H.S. for making the week a huge success!
